An analysis of the specific features of the legal regulation of relations within the Internet has shown that some of them attract increased attention from criminals. Among the new types of cybercrime, especially dangerous manifestations in the field of extremism and terrorism stand out. To combat them, a number of approaches have been developed to create methodological support for investigative actions based on the tools for managing information flows created within the framework of cybernetics and informatics. A scientifically grounded definition of cyber extremism is proposed, reflecting its main features among other types of cybercrime.
