The article discusses certain aspects of the description of bispecific verbs of the Polish language in comparison with a similar category of the Russian language. The comparison carried out according to the following parameters: quality and quantity of bispecific verbs; inconsistency in the qualification of the similar verb forms in the compared languages (for example, two-aspect Russian verbs бежать and молвить and Polish imperfective verbs biec and mówić ); the conditionality of the expression of bispecificity and manifestation in a bispecific verb of particular kind of morphological category that the given verb expresses, and the context; transition of two-aspect verb to the one-aspect when prefixal or suffixal correlates appear (for example, the verb арестовать becomes perfect when the imperfect арестовывать appears; the verb aresztować becomes imperfective when perfect zaaresztować appears). The necessity of involving dialectal material in the comparison of Polish and Russian ambitransitive verbs of native origin is substantiated.
