The study addresses the issue of women's professional activity while serving prison terms. The key part of the study is a review of Polish and foreign literature on this subject, which, due to insufficient data from the Prison Service, allows us to partially assess how the model of social rehabilitation through work is implemented in practice in the case of female prisoners. Women's work in prison should serve their readaptation and contribute to greater professional activity of women after leaving prison. The presented data show that these goals are not fully achieved. The final part addresses the challenges the penitentiary system faces in Poland, including both the process of resocialization through work and the process of its evaluation.
