Caesarean section (CS) rates in the developed world have been rising steadily over the last two decades. CS can be lifesaving, however it is not without its complications. The CS rate was increasing in our hospital for no apparent reason so we implemented CATCH (Caesarean Section Audit to Identify Trends and Collaboration in Health), an evidence-informed inter-disciplinary intervention to address modifiable factors associated with non-elective CS in primigravid women and people. The result was a significant reduction in the number of CSs with no adverse effects for women and people or newborns.
