The objective of this research was to identify the impact of socio-emotional skills on the academic performance of primary school students and determine their relevance in educational improvement. The study was structured with a quantitative approach and non experimental design of descriptive depth, where 4th grade students from the Francisco I. Madero Elementary School-Mexico participated. The Indicators taken into consideration as factors of emotional competencies were: self-esteem, emotion management, coexistence, rules and agreements, conflict resolution and families. It was demonstrated that the student's level of socio-emotional maturity is directly influenced by their academic performance, presenting high levels of association between both factors. It concluded. that students with more developed social-emotional skills showed greater motivation, self esteem, and problem-solving ability, which contributes to better academic performance.
