Advantages and Limitations of the Development of the Digital Economy Ecosystem (Using the Example of the BRICS and G7 Countries)

The relevance of the research is determined by the search for new competitive tools for countries to achieve global leadership. The purpose of the study is to identify the advantages and limitations of the development of the digital economy ecosystem in the BRICS and G7 countries, as well as to formulate recommendations to strengthen the positions of the studied countries in the context of the formation of a multipolar world. The objectives of the study are aimed at identifying the role of the BRICS and G7 alliance in the world’s development economy, conducting a comparative analysis of the state of the digital economy ecosystem in the BRICS and G7 countries, and developing recommendations to strengthen the positions of the studied countries in the formation of a multipolar world. In the research’s course, the methods of analyzing literary and Internet sources, analysis and synthesis, systematization, graphical method, and comparison were applied. A comparative analysis of the state of digital infrastructure in the BRICS and G7 countries for the period 2010–2021 has been carried out; the characteristics of human capital determining the level of development of the ecosystem of the digital economy have been studied; the dynamics of exports of ICT goods have been studied; and the author’s recommendations on strengthening the positions of the BRICS countries and the development of the ecosystem of the digital economy of the G7 countries are proposed. The conclusion is made about the advantage of the G7 countries in terms of the level of digital infrastructure development. It is concluded that the G7 countries have high indicators of human capital development, exceeding those in the BRICS countries, except for Russia. In terms of R&D development, the G7 countries still have the advantage, but Brazil and China have already outperformed some developed countries in terms of individual indicators of investment in R&D. The signs of the advanced development of the BRICS countries have been revealed against the background of the fading dynamics of exports of high-tech goods in the G7 countries.
