ESAs Rosetta mission accompanied comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko (67P) for over two years between 2014 2016. On board was ROSINA, the Rosetta Orbiter Spectrometer for Ion and Neutral Analysis (Balsiger et al. 2007), which measured, in situ, the composition of the gaseous coma.The set of molecules monitored included highly volatile species, such as carbon monoxide and methane, together with the main coma gases, water and carbon dioxide.
