The purpose of the article is to find out the history of the replenishment of the library fund of Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi Kremenchuk National University based on exlibris and stamps. The methodology. Achieving the set goal and solving the research tasks were carried out on the basis of the principle of objectivity, which revealed the multifaceted nature of the research object and made it possible to get as close as possible to the realities of the library system. The research is based on a systematic approach, which presupposes the use of provenances as a historical source in the aspect of elucidating the process of formation of library funds of university libraries. In the process of researching the history of the replenishment of the library fund of the library of Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi Kremenchuk National University in exlibris and stamps, a structural method was used, which allowed to describe the peculiarities of the replenishment of the library fund by different groups of replenishers in diachrony. During the research, the authors used the method of situational research, which made it possible to analyze the ways of replenishing the book fund of the library of a particular university. The use of methods of analysis and synthesis made it possible to determine the degree of development of the topic, as well as to reveal the general trends in replenishing the book fund of the university library. The systematic solution of the problem must be preceded by its systematic formulation, which is the basis of the systematic analysis of the problem. The complete formulation of the problem in the classics of the systems approach, which includes formulation, construction, evaluation, justification and notation of the problem, was considered by the authors earlier (Аyvazyan, 2013; Bilous, 2010; Bolyak et cet., 2020; Karoyeva, 2015). The results. Exlibris and stamps are an important historical source in the aspect of clarifying the process of forming of university libraries funds. The results of the analysis of book marks of the library fund of Kremenchuk Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi National University made it possible to find out that the book fund was most actively replenished from the library fund of other organizations and individuals during the period of the library’s formation and restructuring / disbanding of enterprises and organizations (the 1960s, 1990s and 2000s). The most active groups of contributors to the library fund of the university library are educational institutions, enterprises and institutions, as well as public organizations. The scientific novelty consists in substantiating the history of the formation of the university library as an important social institution and the phenomenon of spiritual culture in the context of the historical development of society, which necessitates the transition from the study of the history of the development of librarianship at the level of analysis and generalization of facts within individual library directions and issues to the selection and study of large blocks of librarianship problems that are directly related to certain trends of historical and cultural processes that determine the essence, structure and functions of the library and the main directions of library activity in different historical eras. The practical significance consists in highlighting approaches to clarifying the history of the formation of the book fund of a separate university library based on provenances as a historical source.
