The relevance. Digitization of traditional processes in the activities of libraries, archives, information and analytical units of management bodies and businesses provides an opportunity for rapidly entering the global information space and the international scientific and educational environment. This determines the peculiarities of educational programs, the essence of competencies, and the training results of specialists in the information and communication sphere. The purpose of the research is to study the defining features of the modern concept of educational content in library and information science, which are implemented in foreign educational institutions. The methodology. A synchronous section of publications in periodicals indexed in the Scopus database was made with the chronological coverage of 2021–2023. The content analysis of scientific works, which highlight the experience of educational activities of universities on different continents, makes it possible to establish the thematic focus of scientific research, the specifics of the content of training in educational programs in library and information science in foreign educational institutions. The results. Educational institutions of various educational and qualification levels implement educational programs in library and information science: bachelor’s and master’s in the structure of universities, specialized schools, and forms of postgraduate education. Professional competencies form knowledge in information management, analytical programming, intelligent data analysis, text analysis and analytics, digital preservation, information organization, and information search. The scientific novelty. The defining features of the modern concept of educational content in library and information science in foreign educational institutions have been established. The practical significance. The experience of foreign universities in the organization of educational work in library and information science must modernize the content of professional educational programs in Ukraine. The conclusion. Heterogeneity characterizes educational programs in library and information science implemented in universities because of the different levels of socio-economic and political development in various countries. The defining trends of educational work include: the quality of education by programs is evaluated depending on compliance with international and national standards in library and information science; the scientific, educational, and practical sphere of library and information science needs approximation, adaptation, and satisfaction of the pragmatic needs of various branches of social life with the wide use of information and analytical technologies.
