The essay focuses on civil liability profiles in the event that an accident is caused by an autonomous vehicle and the third damaged party claims against the driver. The author begins with a reconstruction of the current legal framework first in Europe and then in Italy and the US, and explains the different theories that could be applied to the problem as a solution. The work provides a proposal, ie the recognition of legal personality given to the autonomous vehicle, not as a surrogate of the natural person, but as a legal person (see for example private entities). The author shows how this is possible using the method of ana- logia iuris.
