The purpose of this study was to develop Daecheon-ri, Yuchi-myeon, Jangheung-gun, as an elementary school geological field course and to propose outdoor geology teaching and learning materials. To this purpose, the geological phenomena observable in this study area and the 2015 and 2022 revised elementary school science solid earth achievement standards were analyzed, and an outdoor geology teaching and learning model was examined. The results showed that this study area contains sedimentary rocks such as conglomerate, sandstone, and shale; igneous rocks such as dyke and tuff; sedimentary structures such as stratification and ripple mark; joint and pothole, free meander, and weathering by plant roots, all of which are aligned with the current and upcoming elementary science achievement standard. The outdoor geology teaching and learning materials were proposed in three phases: preparation, fieldwork, and summary, considering the ‘novelty space’. A limitation of this study area is that strata and fossils, which are learning components of the elementary science curriculum, do not occur in this study area, making it difficult to learn about them. In the future, it is necessary to conduct outdoor geological studies in this study area and modify and supplement the teaching and learning materials proposed in this study to suit reality.
