Under the influence of digital technologies, the face of a traditional public institution such as a library is changing. The principles of library space organization, methods of library and information activities, resource provision of library funds, etc. are being rethought. The subject of the study is the documents of the current regulatory and legal framework of Ukraine, which relate to the development of electronic resources in the libraries of Ukraine. The purpose of the article: to outline the essence of the main regulatory and legal acts issued during the years of independence of Ukraine, which directly or indirectly relate to the use of electronic resources in the work of libraries. To investigate their role and significance in the legislation of Ukraine. To establish which of them are designed to improve the work of libraries, to simplify access to information for users, regardless of time and place, to facilitate the librarian’s work thanks to the active implementation of digital technologies. To reveal their potential in the librarianship of the future. Conclusions. As a result of the review of legal acts in the legislation of Ukraine since the beginning of independence, created to improve the work of libraries, it was established that the vast majority of the presented documents actively contribute to the development of the information and library sphere, the introduction of digital technologies. All the above-mentioned legal documents provide for: free access to electronic information resources, protection of copyright in information and search systems, creation and development of information library resources in the information society. However, it should be recognized that some of them are not without some shortcomings and lag behind their international counterparts.
