The currently relevant focus of education on humanization, as well as the need for the active involvement of creative teachers in the axiological emotional and intellectual formation of youth, set new guidelines for higher education. The trajectory and results of a teacher’s development in his specialty are directly related to the pres-ence and accuracy of his inherent ideal image, synthesizing the qualities of a highly cultural personality and an example of moral pedagogical work. The object of the study is the social and conceptual facets of understand-ing the image of an ideal teacher of humanities subjects. Research methods are based on general methodo-logical philosophical premises of rationalistic and dialectical approaches. The objectives of the research are achieved thanks to general scientific methods and techniques – analytical and synthetic, inductive and deduc-tive. Systemic and structural-functional analysis is used, acting in unity with the principle of historicism and the comparative historical method. The novelty of the study is due to the fact that it was carried out in line with the meaning-creating activity of the teacher and students, as well as its results, which can be summarized as fol-lows: the relevance and value of the image of an ideal teacher has been proven; the ideal of a teacher of hu-manities is described as an axiological system represented by a number of components.
