The study aims to analyze the trend of Korean idioms reflected in the TOPIK organized by the National Institute of International Education of the Ministry of Education for Chinese learners and to suggest effective idiom education plans. In this paper, 75 idioms were first extracted, focusing on the TOPIK previous questions listed on the official website of the Korean Language Proficiency Test.As a result of analyzing the frequency of appearance between the following investigated idioms and existing Korean textbooks, we could see the limitations of the list of idiomatic education to prepare for TOPIK with an average of 7%.In addition, as a result of a contrast analysis of the Chinese expressions corresponding to the TOPIK previous idioms, the structure of total equivalent accounted for a high proportion with 48%, the structure of zero-equivalent accounted for 38%, and the structure of approximative equivalent was 15%.The above survey results were classified into positive and negative transitions from a contrasting linguistic point of view, and the list of idiomatic language education was presented.By incorporating Bernard Seale's three-stage teaching model for vocabulary education, Moran's four-stage teaching model for cultural education, grammar translation teaching method, and communication teaching method, it was possible to complement the shortcomings and limitations of each teaching method and teaching model. In this paper, it is also meaningful that a teaching model was presented so that education can be conducted as an extension of communication skills considering the socio-cultural environment, not limited to vocabulary-oriented education to prepare for the TOPIK test.
