The article reveals the directions of information support for the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. Special attention is paid to modern technologies that can be applied to optimize the work of institutions and bodies of the penal enforcement system of the Russian Federation. The challenges faced by the information systems of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia are analyzed. The conclusion is made about the need for further development of the information support system of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in accordance with the identified areas. The prospects for the development of automated systems and software complexes developed for the penal enforcement system of the Russian Federation are considered.
