The article is devoted to the analysis of the processes of formation and development of the regional system of additional education in the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The importance of the system of additional education for children and adolescents at the present stage is considered, as well as the main problems and current directions of its development in the short term. The five most important aspects are highlighted: educational work; early professional orientation for children and its support; modernization of the system of additional education; “networking” in the system of additional education; development of new general education additional programs. The features of the development of a technical direction in additional education for children and the current state of the problem of additional education for children with disabilities are considered.
