Covalent Organic Frameworks Guanidinium and diformylpyridine units are linked to form a covalent organic framework (COF). The hydrophilic COF responds to humidity and temperature, making it a competitive COF sensor. The incorporation of ionic moieties creates hydrogen bonds between the entrapped water and the framework, which restricts the rotation of the bonds and leads to reversible thermochromism and fluorescent hydrochromism in the solid state.
