Historical Changes in Body Representation in Chinese Sports Films

본 논문은 중국 스포츠 영화에 나타난 신체 재현의 역사적 변화를 탐색하기 위해 스포츠 영화의 다양한 역사적 시기를 대표하는 5편의 영화를 선정했다. 분석의 범주는 "구성된 여성의 신체", "소비문화 속의 신체", "국가 이미지로서의 신체"이다. 먼저 여성 신체 경우, 중화민국 시기에는 좌익 운동과 미국 할리우드 영화의 영향을 받아 여성의 몸을 재현하였고, 중화인민공화국 건국 이후에는 정치적 목적에서 인민의 새로운 모습을 보여주려고 집단주의적인 몸을 제시했다. 개혁개방 이후에는 신체 자체에 주목하는 "해방된 신체"가 등장하였고, 그리고 이후 상업화 추세 속에서 여성의 신체가 소비되었다. 소비문화의 측면에서는 신중국 건국 이전에는 자본이 지배하는 소비문화의 영향을 받았고, 신중국 건국 초기에는 신체를 사물화 화는 소비문화에 대해 비판적 시각을 지녔으며, 개혁개방 이후에는 상업화 추세 속에서 스타 시스템을 활용해 신체를 재현함으로써 자본과 화해하는 경향을 보여주었다. 마지막으로 중국 스포츠 영화에서 신체의 재현은 국가의 정치적 의지에 의해 변화를 겪었다. 신체는 국가 당국의 의지에 영향을 받아 때로는 스포츠를 통한 구국 정책에 협력하기도 하고, 때로는 국가 이미지를 전파하는 매개체 역할을 하였으며, 최근에는 올림픽 정신과 개인의 성공을 융합하는 복합적인 형태를 띠고 있다. 이와 같이 중국 스포츠 영화는 시대의 흐름과 긴밀하게 연계된 신체의 미학적 풍경을 보여 준다. This paper selected five films representing various historical periods of sports films to explore the historical changes in physical representation in Chinese sports films. The categories of analysis are 'constructed female body', 'body in consumer culture', and 'body as national image'. First, in the case of the female body, during the Republic of China, the female body was reproduced under the influence of left-wing movements and American Hollywood movies, and after the founding of the People"s Republic of China, a collectivist body was presented to show a new image of the people for political purposes. After the reform and opening period, the "liberated body" that focused on the body itself emerged, and women"s bodies were consumed in the subsequent commercialization trend. In terms of consumer culture, before the founding of New China, it was influenced by a consumer culture dominated by capital. In the early days of the founding of New China, it had a critical view of the consumer culture that objectifies the body, and after reform and opening up, it became a star in the commercialization trend. By using the system to reproduce the body, he showed a tendency to reconcile with capital. Lastly, the representation of the body in Chinese sports films has undergone changes due to the country"s political will. The body is influenced by the will of national authorities, sometimes cooperating with national salvation policies through sports, and sometimes serving as a medium to spread the national image. Recently, it has taken on a complex form that combines the Olympic spirit and individual success. In this way, Chinese sports films show an aesthetic landscape of the body that is closely linked to the trends of the times.
