Objectives We classified latent groups in the usage patterns of private education for elementary school students before and after COVID-19 and explored the transition probability. Methods For this purpose, the 12th and 13th data from the Korean Children's Panel were used. Latent class analysis and latent transition analysis were used to classify groups and identify the characteristics of each latent group. Results Each was classified into three latent groups, and each could be classified into a subject-centered group (high group), a math and english centered group (medium group), and a low-participation group (low group), and the transition probability for each was calculated. Conclusions After the outbreak of COVID-19, the average number of subjects used in private education decreased, but the use of English/mathematics subjects was maintained, and there was a movement toward use in other subjects. And the increase in average household income did not affect the shift to a subject-centered group.
