Sustainable buildings permeate themes that use construction methods associated with innovative materials and technologies. The search for these themes aims to break the civil construction paradigm that sees non-renewable materials as the only successful form in a building. As a highlight,, rammed earth enables more sustainable constructions, with lower energy consumption and ideal thermoacoustic comfort, among other recent advances, which includes the ABNT NBR 17014 1, which brings with it great expectations for expansion of this construction system. In this context, this article sought to characterize two soils in the municipality of Palmeiras das Missões-RS, for the purpose of implementing experimental and self-supporting walls using the rammed earth, with the aim of designing more sustainable, healthy and accessible buildings, technically and economically.
