The development, transformation, and solutions of mass residential construction were examined based on the characteristic features of the given historical context. Mass residential construction worldwide has been differently influenced by the sociopolitical situations of various periods. It is essential to understand that mass residential construction has primarily evolved within newly emerging urban development environments. The provisions guiding the metamorphosis of mass residential development, as both social and political phenomena, were analyzed. Architectural changes and environmental transformations have been shown to impact the quality of life for populations, either positively or negatively. Various examples of mass building reconstruction and transformation were reviewed globally, with some deemed successful while others have not withstood the test of time. Daily monitoring of international experience is required due to the rapid changes in technologies, approaches, and ideologies worldwide. Renovation experiences differ across social and cultural contexts, sometimes fundamentally and other times superficially. Today, sustainable development directs the global community toward a common goal, which poses greater challenges for some countries than others. Therefore, a deep study of international experience is essential to create a more sustainable, comfortable, and modern housing stock.
