In today's globalised world, there's a widespread belief about Diaspora communities: that while they may have a global perspective, they still regard their homeland as their eventual destination. However, research on the second generation of the Bangladeshi Diaspora challenges this notion. This study aims to delve into this scholarship and uncovers the reasons behind this counter argument. Specifically, it examines how the first and second generations of the Bangladeshi Diaspora converge, diverge, and adapt in terms of identity formation, survival strategies, and acculturation. Using thematic analysis of existing literature, supplemented by virtual ethnography and semi-structured interviews, thirty in total, this study seeks to develop a nuanced understanding of Diaspora identity and acculturation, without claiming broad generalisations.
