This study explored the intricate dynamics of urban transport governance in Lagos, a megacity grappling with rapid urbanization and population growth. Drawing upon a comprehensive analysis of literature and case studies, the research elucidates the pervasive influence of power dynamics on transportation policies, decision-making processes, and resource allocation within the city. Political, economic, and socio-cultural factors intersect to shape transport governance, often leading to inequitable outcomes that marginalize certain communities. The study highlights the role of mega projects like the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, public-private partnerships (PPPs), and grassroots initiatives in navigating power dynamics and addressing transportation challenges. Furthermore, it underscores the imperative of strengthening institutional frameworks, promoting transparency and accountability, enhancing public participation mechanisms, and empowering marginalized groups for sustainable urban development. The findings underscore the necessity of addressing power imbalances to foster inclusive, equitable, and sustainable urban transport systems in Lagos and similar megacities worldwide.
