There has been a substantial rise in the utilisation of qualitative data in academic studies in recent years. Nevertheless, qualitative research faces criticism due to its susceptibility to bias, limited scope, dependence on personal anecdotes, and absence of scientific rigour. To answer these critiques, a set of criteria for evaluating the trustworthiness of qualitative research is discussed, encompassing factors such as credibility, transferability, reliability, and confirmability. This article offers a pragmatic guide for beginners venturing into qualitative research to improve the trustworthiness of their study.
