This study aims to investigate the socio-economic impact of port development and operation based on perspectives of firms in Busan New Port neighborhood areas. To conduct the research goal, 62 socio-economic factors were identified through expert interviews and a comprehensive literature review. Then, the total number of 500 questionnaires from the same number of companies in Busan New Port neighboring areas were used to employ IPA method based on the importance and performance scores. The findings from this work suggest that the factors for the convenience of public transportation in the city, the reduction of commuting costs, and convenience of transportation to the major cities required the top priority improvement for the port-related companies. This result provides the policy priorities to improve the satisfaction of socio-economic factors for Busan New Port neighboring areas.
