Abstract Positron emission tomography (PET) imaging techniques combined with computed tomography (PET/CT) or magnetic-resonance imaging (PET/MRI) have been developed in the last decades to improve primary diagnosis, staging, restaging, planning radiotherapy, and assessment of therapy efficacy for cancer patients. Currently, the most widely recognized and well-studied radiopharmaceutical is 2-deoxy-218Ffluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG). However, 18F-FDG has some limitations related to physiological accumulation in various organs and low avidity for some histological subtypes. Interest in Gallium 68 (68Ga)-labeled fibroblast activation protein inhibitor (FAPI), which may have high sensitivity and specificity, has increased following the identification of FAP. We reviewed the current literature on 68Ga-FAPI-based PET imaging techniques in the detection of female cancers and conducted a meta-analysis to determine the diagnostic performances of 68Ga-FAPI-based PET imaging techniques for breast and gynecological cancers.
