One of the specifi c features of folk traditional culture is such a quality as normativity, i.e. the ability to regulate those social relations that form the social basis of culture. Notably, among the numerous interpretations of traditional culture and folklore today, the sociocultural one is the most popular. It allows analyzing this type of culture in all the diversity of its social elements. The relevance of considering this type of culture from a normative perspective is determined by the fact that social and aesthetic standards that were formed within the boundaries of Russian traditional culture continue to actively function in the modern cultural space, which is the fundamental diff erence of Russia from Western countries.
