Linguocultural Portrait of the Word “Russian” in the Linguistic Picture of the World of Residents of the Russian Federation

The article is devoted to an important question of modern science about language: on what ethnic type is the thinking and reaction of a Russian based. Based on the material of NKRY and psycholinguistic experiments, the author explores changes in the understanding of the lexeme “Russian” in the history of Russian linguistic culture under the influence of recent historical changes in the country. An attempt has been made to determine what dominates during pairing: the national-cultural component or universals determined by common values. An analysis of scientific literature convincingly shows that the problem of describing the content, structure and dynamics of the image of a Russian in the minds of speakers of different national cultures living compactly in a multicultural region of Russia still remains unresolved. The solution to this problem makes it possible to describe the value systems and stereotypes of the “average” bearer of a particular culture. Creating a linguocultural portrait of the word “Russian” in the modern linguistic consciousness of the population will allow us to identify correlative relationships with the concept “Russian”.
