Today, the study of cognitive translation processes seems to be a difficult task. To understand these processes, various models in cognitive science are used. Without the use of any technology, it is very difficult to observe the cognitive processes occurring in the human brain. When trying to study the translation process, new difficulties arise. In order to observe the work of translators, researchers create artificial conditions, which allow them to draw conclusions about the translation process itself in a given situation, but not in a natural environment. The article discusses the methodology for studying the translation process from the point of view of cognitive translation studies. The author analyzes the use of the “think aloud” method in various studies and draws conclusions about its advantages and disadvantages, and also examines the study of the translation process using information technology
