This article examines the current problems directly related to the training and development of Ukrainian athletes in the modern conditions: we will analyze the realities and prospects of this direction, taking into account the state of war in Ukraine. Despite the difficult conditions, Ukrainian athletes continue to represent the Motherland worthily at the tournaments of any level but, undoubtedly, since the beginning of the full-scale war in Ukraine something has changed on the way to achieving such lofty goals. In fact, the main issues and alternatives for improving the state of the physical culture and sport are determined by external and internal factors which directly or indirectly affect certain quantitative and qualitative indicators. Accordingly, the article primarily examines the important impact of the military conflict not only on the sports infrastructure, financing and support of sports, but also on the psychological state of athletes and their actual preparation for competitions of any kind because constant military threats, as a result of receiving stress by Ukrainians, cause problems with the psychological aspects of sports training: athletes can lose their own focus on preparing for competitions and, moreover, the necessary motivation for high achievements in the chosen sport. The war significantly complicates sports activities in Ukraine, so immediate measures are needed to ensure safety, support and development of the sports movement of Ukrainians. For effective overcoming the main problems, which are mentioned in the article, it is necessary to develop and implement comprehensive programs that should take into account financial, infrastructural and psychological aspects. Therefore, the article also provides and analyzes the possible options for overcoming the above-mentioned problems and further ways of gradually improving the system of training athletes for any competitions and important achievements in war conditions. They require an integrated approach and joint efforts from all stakeholders. And, in general, there is a sufficiently large potential for expanding our understanding of specific problems and developing effective strategies for the support and development of Ukrainian sports in conditions of war. Mind you, the conclusions of this article can be useful for coaches, athletes, government bodies and public organizations that are interested in supporting sports in wartime.
