The paper considers peculiarities of the tsarist government’s policy aimed at ensuring internal security of the Privislinsky Krai and the North-Western Territory of the Russian Empire in the 1880-1890s. The policy was characterized by Russification and unification of the socio-political and cultural life of the region. The directions of the policy are noted and its results are shown. This paper contributes to existing studies in domestic historiography on the issue discussed.
