Issues of Repression, Language and Female Subjectivity in Kate Chopin's The Story of an Hour: A Psychoanalytic Feminist Perspective

This paper is a psychoanalytic feminist critique to Kate Chopin's "The Story of an hour". The paper is qualitative descriptive in nature and employes textual evaluation and close reading strategies. The paper goals to explore the topics of repression, language, and woman subjectivity in the quick story via utilizing the theoretical framework of Luce Irigaray. Irigaray’s theory reviews patriarchal language and its position in shaping and repressing female identity, imparting a completely unique perspective on Chopin’s narrative.
