Evolution of the theory and practice of spatial development

Subject. This article analyzes the impact of the country's spatial development on economic indicators. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the theoretical concepts and cases of practical implementation of the policy of area's spatial development. Methods. For the study, we used the general scientific research methods. Results. Based on the analysis of the main provisions of the theories of the location of productive forces, central places, growth poles and axes, the article finds that the current Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2025 is declarative in nature. Conclusions. The article concludes that the integration of the Spatial Development Strategy of the Russian Federation until 2025 with the State program Balanced Regional Development will contribute to the spatial development of the regions of Russia.
