The article examines the system of legal education in the USSR that developed in the 30s, consisting of three levels: lower, secondary and higher, special attention is paid to the organization of legal courses as the most widespread form of obtaining legal knowledge. The issues of legal regulation of legal education in the USSR are highlighted, the author concludes that as a result of the reform, quantitative indicators did not correspond to qualitative ones. In conclusion, the author’s periodization of the development of legal education in our country in the pre-war decade is given.
