The aim of the research is to develop a methodology for practical-oriented linguodidactic analysis of video texts that will allow teachers of Russian as a foreign language to assess the difficulty level of authentic video materials for foreign audiences, their teaching and communicative potential, and to plan a lesson based on these findings. The article formulates the principles and defines the order of such an analysis for the first time, which makes the research novel. As a result, the author finds that linguodidactic analysis of video texts should be based on the principles of taking into account the individual characteristics of the addressee, ensuring the accessibility of the video text for the audience, identifying its teaching and communicative potential and its linguocultural orientation. The author proposes a sequential analysis of the verbal, nonverbal, and ideological-aesthetic components of the video text. The verbal component is described at the linguistic, speech, and linguocultural levels. The author illustrates the proposed methodology using the example of issue 182 of the TV magazine “Yeralash” titled “The Liar Meter”.
