“Thematic Dictionary of Arkhangelsk Dialects” and the electronic dictionary system

The article is devoted to the presentation of the first two issues of the “Thematic Dictionary of Arkhangelsk Dialects” and the electronic corpus of dialects of the Arkhangelsk region. The aim of the study is to characterize the structure of the thematic dictionary and the electronic corpus. “Thematic Dictionary of Arkhangelsk Dialects” belongs to the single-dialect explanatory dictionaries of a non-differential type, because the dictionary includes not only dialectal words, but also common words that are still actively used in the speech of rural residents. The vocabulary is divided into thematic subgroups, the words are arranged in alphabetical order in each subgroup. The explanations of words in the dictionary are given as encyclopedic, descriptive and referential. The scientific novelty of the study lies in describing the tools being developed for dialectal research using the materials of Arkhangelsk dialects. The corpus has lexical markup that allows searching for dialect words. Words in the corpus are arranged in alphabetical order, but with the help of filters it is possible to search by various categories: division into thematic groups and subgroups, into districts of the Arkhangelsk region, grammatical features. The results of the work amount to the presentation for researchers and a wide audience of two volumes of the “Thematic Dictionary of Arkhangelsk Dialects” and its accompanying electronic corpus, as well as the identification of prospects for their development.
