This paper analyses how ‘Black Myth: Wukong’ combines Chinese culture with gamer culture identity through cultural symbols and identity construction. Referring to theories of performative identity construction, theories of cultural hegemony, and cultural discourse studies (CDS), the paper explores the process of cultural identity reconstruction in video games. By decoding the cultural discourse embedded in video games, this paper explains how video games influence cultural hegemony and lower the threshold of communication with different cultural identities from the perspective of ‘cultural space’. This provides a new perspective and approach to mutual understanding and communication between global cultures.
