Current naval shipboard information systems use distributed system architecture. This architecture takes large space, while its resource utilization is poor. These cannot satisfy the requirements of next generation naval shipboard information systems. Computing center architecture with virtualization technology can reorganize the physic resource of the computers into virtual resource pool, which can significantly improve the resource utilization and meet the needs of the new shipboard information systems. In this paper, we carried out an in-depth research of virtualization technologies. We proposed a virtualization system evaluation method, and took a comprehensive evaluation of the three virtualization systems. In result, we gave several suggestions for virtualization system deployment. These can solve the problems of poor resource utilization and fault tolerance performance in current naval shipboard information systems. This project can provide a solid foundation for the application of the computing oriented virtualization technologies to the new naval shipboard information systems.
