ECR Spotlight is a series of interviews with early-career authors from a selection of papers published in Journal of Experimental Biology and aims to promote not only the diversity of early-career researchers (ECRs) working in experimental biology but also the huge variety of animals and physiological systems that are essential for the ‘comparative’ approach. Léa Lorrain-Soligon is an author on ‘ Long-term salinity exposure reveals site-specific physiological and behavioural responses in coastal and inland toads’, published in JEB. Léa conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in François Brischoux's lab at UMR CEBC 7372, France. Léa is now a post-doctoral researcher in the lab of Aurélie Goutte at UMR 7619 METIS EPHE/SU/CNRS, Paris, France, investigating how environmental stressors interact to shape physiological, behavioural and evolutionary responses in aquatic vertebrates.
