Abstract This paper, developed based on desk research accomplished during the first semester of 2024 provides a systematic review of state-of-the-art literature on ‘entrepreneurship in the context of digitalization’, focusing on publications from 2023 indexed in the Web of Science database. Utilizing desk research, the study analyzed 228 articles, identifying key research trends, methodologies, and geographical focuses. Findings highlight the impact of digitalization on business strategies, the evolution of SMEs, and emerging trends in AI, AR, and VR. The study contributes to the field by mapping existing research and proposing future trajectories for digital entrepreneurship. Recommendations for practitioners and scholars are provided. The paper adds value to the literature on “entrepreneurship in the context of digitalization” by providing insights on previous research, at the same time, setting guidelines for coherent future research trajectories.
