This study explores the harmonious integration of ceramic and fiber materials in functional art, aiming to achieve a seamless unification of aesthetics and func-tionality. Ceramics, with their rigidity, durability, and diverse aesthetic qualities (e.g., varied colors and textures), and fibers, characterized by flexibility, mallea-bility, and rich textural/visual appeal, are two prominent materials in functional art. Through a comprehensive literature review, this research identifies a signif-icant gap in existing studies, which have predominantly focused on each materi-al in isolation rather than their combined applications. To address this gap, the study employs a multi-faceted methodology, including literature analysis, case studies (e.g., ceramic vessels, fiber-made furniture ac-cessories, and contemporary composite artworks), and field visits. Qualitative analysis examines the aesthetic elements (color, texture, form) and cultural symbolism of combined materials, while quantitative analysis evaluates func-tional performance (durability, comfort, ergonomics). Key findings reveal that integrating ceramics and fibers enhances both aesthet-ics—through contrasting textures, forms, and complementary colors—and functionality, as ceramics provide structural stability and fibers add adaptability and comfort. Technical challenges, such as material compatibility and manufac-turing difficulties, are addressed with strategies like surface treatments and ad-vanced manufacturing techniques (e.g., 3D printing). This research enriches the theoretical framework of material-based art creation, offers practical guidance for artists and designers, and highlights future trends, including sustainable materials and smart fibers. It contributes to advancing innovative, functional, and aesthetically pleasing artworks that bridge the gap between ceramics and fibers.
