Fundamental training in pharmacognosy is essential for developing general and professional competencies of students of pharmaceutical universities. As one of the leading pharmaceutical disciplines, it shapes the worldview, skills, and expertise of highly qualified pharmacists. This article examines the interdisciplinary connections of pharmacognosy with other subjects taught within the educational program of specialization 33.05.01 "Pharmacy" at the Pharmaceutical Faculty of Saint Petersburg State Chemical Pharmaceutical University (SPCPU). It also explores their integration in fostering general and professional competencies. Pharmacognosy, as a core discipline of pharmaceutical education, builds upon prerequisite subjects and forms a set of competencies that serve as the foundation for mastering subsequent disciplines and practical training. Despite the advantages of the competency-based approach, interdisciplinary linkages require continuous curriculum updates to align with innovative advancements in the pharmaceutical field.
