The purpose of this study is to examine the strategies required to carry out policies aimed at reducing poverty in Kutai Kartanegara Regency's Muara Kaman District. The research design used in this study was quantitative. Both primary and secondary data were included in the collection. Key informant interviews were used to gather primary data. The Central Statistics Agency is one of the many sources of secondary statistics. The SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) method was used to analyse the data. According to the study's conclusions, Muara Kaman District, Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan's policy approach to reducing poverty is defensive (cell 4). The strategies in cell 4 are; optimizing socialization related to poverty reduction efforts by anticipating the increasing cost of living as an economic impact, increasing transportation access in order to reduce the impact of COVID-19 which has not yet resolved its endemic effects, increasing the allocation of funds in order to implement poverty reduction as an effort to reduce the conversion of agricultural land to other sectors, improving the quality of human resources in order to minimize the influence of increasing immigrants as an impact of the growing number of coal mining and plantation companies, and increasing access to information in an effort to overcome the declining quality of land as a source of livelihood as an impact of natural exploitation.
