Confronting Adverse Environmental Impacts of War and the Role of Humanitarian Law

Our environment is the foundation of all life, and it gives us the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink, and this is the only planet that supports life. Our beloved planet is faced with a few serious threats, which are causing a very severe threat to the very existence of the planet; among these threats, one of the most vital is war and armed conflicts. We urgently need to rethink how the global community handles environmental damage during wars. Current approaches aren't working well enough. A new resolution could finally move this issue from academic discussions to real political action, where it belongs. War, refugee crises, and environmental destruction are deeply connected. Fighting displaces people while bombs poison land and water, creating a vicious cycle that harms entire ecosystems. These problems are tangled together and need comprehensive solutions. The damage wars cause - to both people and nature - can be catastrophic. Modern warfare affects wildlife and communities in countless ways, from direct bombing to long-term pollution. The paper is an attempt to investigate the horror of wars and their adverse impact on the silent victim (the natural environment).
