ABSTRACT This paper presents a soft‐switched high‐voltage gain Y‐quasi‐Z source DC‐DC converter, which integrates the advantages of quasi‐Z source networks, Y source networks, and switched capacitor networks. The proposed converter achieves zero voltage switching (ZVS) for all active devices by replacing the diode in the quasi‐Z source network with a switch. Besides, the proposed converter has the advantages of continuous input current, a common ground between input and output voltage, an active clamp loop that absorbs voltage spikes caused by the leakage inductor, diodes zero current switching (ZCS) that eliminates the reverse recovery loss, high voltage boost capability, and high efficiency. The operating modes and steady states are analyzed in detail. The efficiency calculation and power dissipation are studied. Then, comparisons between converters and component designations are presented. Finally, a 160‐W prototype made in the laboratory verified that when the input voltage is 48 V, the output voltage can be enhanced to 380 V and the efficiency is 96.89%, while its corresponding hard‐switched converter is 94.71%. The tested waveforms agree well with the theoretical analysis.
