The study seeks to determine the impact of green supply chain management facets (green purchasing and manufacturing) on operational performance. It also examines the mediation role of green product innovation and the moderating role of top management commitment on various paths. A self-administered structured questionnaires were used to collect time lag data from 279 managers from 31 manufacturing firms in Jordan. We found that both green purchasing and green manufacturing positively impact green product innovation, which mediates the relationship between the two facets and operational performance. Top management commitment moderates the relationship between green manufacturing and operational performance, as well as between green product innovation and operational performance. However, this moderating effect is not significant on the relationship between green purchasing and operational performance. Our findings have valuable practical, societal, policy, and educational implications. A few limitations and directions are provided.
