This investigation delineates the essential lexicon required for crafting a pedagogical framework for nursing informatics, prompted by the overhaul of Japan's nursing education curriculum in 2020. An evaluative comparison was performed between the index terms from the inaugural and the most recently updated editions of two seminal nursing informatics texts published in Japanese. The analysis revealed a substantial lexicon expansion in both works, with a replacement rate exceeding 80%. Notably, 11 terms were uniformly introduced in the updated renditions, integrating novel concepts linked to technological innovation, security, and privacy enhancement. The findings offer substantive groundwork for the promotion and integration of eHealth initiatives within Japan, aligning with international benchmarks.
