The article discusses the problems of intersemiotic translation represented by a drama text whose cultural code is dual: both literary and theatrical. The article’s purpose is to substantiate the drama text reading culture as the elite culture of the future actors and translators’ personality’s integral component. The article is based on the ideas of the episteme of translation: ontology, methodology, and axiology. Ontology is represented by the specifics of drama translation, methodology by synergetics, axiology by the translation quality assessment by a translator and a recipient in the form of harmony and translation ecology. The research material was a fragment of W. Shakespeare’s tragedy «Hamlet, Prince of Denmark» and its translations by V Nabokov and B. Pasternak. As a result, the study shows the rationality of choosing two axiological dominants in the light of an eco-synergetic approach to forming translator and actor reading culture for the stage embodiment of a translated drama text. The authors of the article make a conclusion that the culture of reading is a multi-stage process of flexible creative reading, including the culture of translator reading, the culture of actor reading, and the culture of audience reading.
