The rise of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has revolutionized industrial operations by enabling real-time data collection, monitoring, and automation across various sectors, including manufacturing, energy, and transportation. However, the increased connectivity and reliance on digital systems in IIoT environments have also made these networks more vulnerable to cyber threats. This paper provides a comprehensive review of cybersecurity challenges in IIoT systems, focusing on threat detection and mitigation strategies. The integration of IoT devices in industrial control systems presents unique challenges in terms of data integrity, network security, and device authentication. We discuss the most prevalent security threats, including data breaches, unauthorized access, and cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure. Furthermore, the paper examines emerging cybersecurity solutions, such as machine learning-based anomaly detection systems, blockchain for data integrity, and the application of AI in threat prediction and response. Through case studies and examples, the research emphasizes the importance of developing robust, adaptive security frameworks to ensure the safe operation of IIoT networks in industrial environments. The paper concludes with recommendations for enhancing cybersecurity measures and strategies for achieving secure IIoT deployments in the face of evolving threats.
