In view of the global challenges arising from environmental degradation and climate change, it is essential to rethink the way hospitals are designed, built and operated, seeking sustainable and resilient solutions that minimize environmental impacts without compromising the quality of care. This study seeks to discuss how the integration of emerging technologies and sustainability principles can contribute to the development of resilient and self-sufficient hospitals in the future. The study is divided into a bibliographic review of the literature in the Web of Science and Scopus databases and a theoretical case study of the Al Daayan Health District, located in Doha, Qatar. The project exemplifies important strategies for the planning of sustainable, resilient and self-sufficient hospital buildings. It is expected that hospitals of the future will integrate emerging technologies, sustainability and resilience principles to face global challenges, ensuring operational efficiency and quality in the provision of health services in different contexts.
